What the hell is a colophon?
A colophon is an inscription that was added, but rarely still is, to the end of a manuscript and often included information related to typefaces, artwork, and publishing information. While this is no novel, I still felt that it's necessary to credit all of the authors and software used to the making of this website and at the same time time tell you a little bit about myself. First and foremost, my blog is powered by none other than Wordpress 2.0.3, using the K2 Beta theme and a variety of plugins. The gallery and file directory listing are both powered by a highly-modified versions of Celeron Dude's PHP scripts. The site is hosted on WHB's servers, which have been an absolutely remarkable and affordable hosting solution. That about covers it; everything else on here was designed, coded, and presented to you by yours truly.
Who are you?
Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man. No, of course I'm not questioning your powers of observation, I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a complete stranger who he is. However, on this most auspicious of moments, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace soubriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona. Voila! In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the "vox populi" now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. Verily this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to e-meet you and you may call me Vex. Confusing wordplay aside, I am a nineteen year old student attending a prospective university in Florida.
What is this website all about?
This web site is nothing more than a collection of thoughts, images, and other electronic memorabilia compiled in my spare time. This website serves as virtual grounds for experimenting with web-based programming, including XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, and PHP, as well as a way for me to communicate with friends and family, showcase some of my photography, and perhaps entertain you, the unsuspecting visitor, for at least a few moments. This site has a few quirks and bugs here and there, some of which I am aware of and others of which I am not. If you find something that's not right, feel free to contact me.
Can I use something from your site?
Certainly. If it's photography you're referring to, I'd be more than happy to provide you with print-sized digital copies of the picture in question. If it's something else, feel free to ask and I will retrieve the proper copyright and usage information for you. Feel free to hotlink any images on this site, as there is plently of bandwidth to go around.
Can you help me design something?
While I'm not a professional designer, photographer, or much of anything, I'd be more than happy to help you with a project or personal matter. If you're a learner like myself, I would suggest Scott Kelby's Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers, Dave Shea's Zen of CSS Design and Janet Valade's PHP and MySQL for Dummies to get you started.
